A Hong Kong hedge fund founded by a pair of Soros Fund Management veterans has lured a former Goldman Sachs executive to serve as its CFO.

Pleiad Investment Advisors named Vien Chiu to the finance post. Chiu was among five Goldman prime brokerage executives in Asia to leave the bank over the past month.

Pleiad is led by ex-Soros managers Kenneth Lee and Michael Yoshino. The firm plans to launch its maiden hedge fund in the third quarter with more than US$150 million, much of it provided by seeder HS Group, itself co-founded by former Goldman Sachs executive Johannes Kaps.
