The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association has launched its newest chapter in Miami, Florida.

Miami becomes CAIA’s 26th chapter worldwide, and the organization’s ninth in the U.S., according to a statement. The chapter has been formed to bring together CAIA members, candidates, educational institutions, and other alternative investment industry participants in the South Florida region together for learning and networking opportunities.

“Miami and the surrounding communities are home to many alternative industry professionals, ranging from investment managers to research providers to family office experts and more,” said William Kelly, CEO of CAIA. “We are thrilled to be launching CAIA Miami and look forward to bringing together this vibrant community in the months and years to come.”

The new chapter will be led Steve Johnston, CAIA, senior operational due diligence analyst at GenSpring Family Offices. He is joined by a group of CAIA-credentialed chapter executives, including Karim Aryeh (Santander Private Banking International), Eddy Augsten (Vega & Oprandi Wealth Partners), Gabriel Freund (Santander Private Banking International) Tisha Turner (Franklin Templeton Investments) and Daisy Weiss (Universa Investments).

“Miami sits at the intersection of the North American and Latin American alternative investment industries, and is an emerging financial hub in its own right,” said Johnston in the statement. “Through the formation of CAIA Miami, we will look to grow, strengthen and promote alternative investment industry education and networking among all of the practitioners in the region.”

Founded in 2002, the CAIA Association is best known for the CAIA Charter, an internationally recognized credential granted to those in the institutional alternative investments industry upon successful completion of a rigorous two-level exam series and accumulation of relevant work experience.

The association is comprised of more than 7,700 alternative investment professionals located in more than 80 countries, sponsors more than 140 educational an networking events per year and has 34 academic partnerships with leading universities around the world.
