Macquarie Specialized Investment Solutions has named former Investec executive Steve Berry as division director of its fund finance business.

In his new role, Berry will be responsible for expanding existing credit fund financing capabilities and driving the expansion of Macquarie’s fund finance coverage in Europe, the company said in a statement. Based in London, he will focus on opportunities across private equity and private debt funds.

Macquarie’s fund finance business specializes in providing bilateral and syndicated lending transactions to investors in, and sponsors of, private equity and hedge funds.

Berry brings more than two decades of industry experience to Macquarie, the company said. He joins the firm from Investec, where he was head of credit portfolio leverage. Previously, he held positions at Banca IMI and Lloyds Banking Group.

A division within Macquarie Asset Management, Macquarie Specialized Investment Solutions manufactures and distributes a range of tailored investment solutions over funds and listed equities, including fund-linked products, principal protected investments, a hedge fund incubation platform, agriculture investment solutions, infrastructure debt funds management and restructuring solutions.

The unit’s parent organization, Australia-based Macquarie Group, is a diversified financial group providing clients with asset management and finance, banking, advisory and risk and capital solutions across debt, equity and commodities. At 31 March 2017, Macquarie had AUM of £294 billion.
